A new practice doesn't need a longer shopping list.
It needs a system.
Too few sets slow down reprocessing. Too many variants tie up budget and make training harder. And instruments without a clear tray logic create unnecessary steps from day one. That's why we don't just plan products – we plan the interplay of treatment, circulation, reprocessing and team.

6 factors that decide your equipment
Your equipment grows from your answers – not from a standard list.
-
Clinical focus
Which procedures and treatments are planned?
-
Rooms and workstations
How many rooms or surgical stations run in parallel?
-
Treatment volume
How often is each set needed per day?
-
Reprocessing rhythm
How long until a set is available again?
-
Existing inventory
What can be kept, added, repaired or replaced?
-
Budget and growth
What is essential at the start, what can follow later?
Four paths, one system
-
Starting from scratch
We build your instrumentation from the ground up – matched to your clinical focus, treatment rooms and planned growth.
-
Taking over a practice
We assess the existing inventory and plan what to keep using, add, repair or replace.
-
Expanding
New implantology, oral surgery, more rooms or more volume: we extend your system without rethinking everything.
-
Planning internationally
Our export team supports international practice projects with selection, quoting and coordination of the equipment.

Frequently asked questions about instrument planning
Who is the USTOMED practice founder service for?
For dentists, oral surgeons and maxillofacial surgeons who are opening a new practice, taking over an existing one or expanding their range of treatments. International practice projects are supported by our export team.
Does USTOMED also help with a practice takeover?
Yes. In a takeover we bring the existing instrument inventory into the planning: together we work out what to keep using, supplement, repair, resharpen or replace. You don't get a blanket full setup when sensible instruments are already there.
What does USTOMED plan for my new dental practice?
Dental instruments, sets, trays, washing baskets and the circulation quantities you need — matched to your clinical focus, workstations and reprocessing rhythm. We define the exact scope in the first call.
Does USTOMED also plan rooms, equipment, financing or legal topics?
No, our focus is dental instruments and how they are organised. Architecture, financing, tax or legal advice are not part of this service. Our podcast Queens & Sons of Dentistry connects you with experts on those wider founding topics.
How does the instrument planning work?
After a short first call we map out specialty, treatments, rooms, team, reprocessing and existing inventory. From that, USTOMED builds an instrument and set composition, explains every position and adjusts scope or variants together with you.
How many instrument sets does my practice need?
That depends on treatment volume, parallel workstations, procedure length, reprocessing time and reserves — a one-size-fits-all number would be unreliable. USTOMED derives set quantities from your planned instrument circulation instead.
What does the instrument setup of a dental practice cost?
Costs depend on specialty, practice size, number of sets, tray system and existing inventory. After the needs analysis you receive a transparent quote in which you can see what each position is for and where alternatives are possible.
Can existing instruments be reused?
Yes — as long as condition, function, marking and reprocessability allow further use. An inventory review clarifies which instruments remain sensible and where supplementing, repair, resharpening or replacement is needed.
Can the consultation take place remotely or on site?
Both. Depending on project and region, planning can happen remotely, in the Tuttlingen showroom, via the mobile showroom or on site. We'll work out the right format in the first call.
Who advises practice founders in Germany, Austria and Switzerland?
Amina Hannani is the contact for founding, taking over and expanding a practice in the DACH region. You can reach her on WhatsApp at +49 1511 6164965 or by email at amina.hannani@ustomed.de.
Who supports international dental practice projects?
Marten Töwe, USTOMED Export Manager, supports international customers with instrument selection, quotations and export coordination. You can contact him at marten.toewe@ustomed.de.
Is the 5-minute first call free?
Yes, the first call is free and comes with no obligations. We use it to find out what support you need and what the next sensible planning step is.
Why have instruments planned instead of simply ordering online?
Single instruments are ordered quickly. A working practice, however, needs coordinated sets, sufficient circulation quantities, matching trays and a clear organisation. Planning avoids double purchases, reprocessing bottlenecks and confusing compositions.
