Repaired where
they were forged.
We reprocess every instrument that qualifies as a medical device under current law. That assessment is made in house in Tuttlingen — by the same hands that build instruments in the first place.
And if an instrument is beyond saving for technical or regulatory reasons, you are not left with it: we quote you a replacement at a special price.
Care buys you years
Clean, de-stain, oil: instruments that are looked after go in for service less often — and get replaced much later.

Frequently asked questions
Is a repair worth it, or should I just buy a new instrument?
In the vast majority of cases it is worth it. Sharpening and realigning costs a fraction of a new instrument and adds years to its working life; on instruments with a tungsten carbide insert only the insert is replaced, not the whole instrument. What your particular repair costs depends on the instrument and the damage — which is why you get a quote up front rather than a flat rate. And if an instrument cannot be restored, we offer you a replacement at a special price.
Do you also sharpen instruments made by other manufacturers?
That is best settled on the actual instrument, before you pack the parcel. Whether we can reprocess a third-party instrument depends on its design, material and condition, so a blanket yes would be dishonest. Call us or drop us a line: our contacts will tell you whether the shipment is worth it.
Which instruments can be reprocessed at all?
Every instrument that qualifies as a medical device under current law. The assessment is made in house in Tuttlingen.
What happens to instruments that cannot be restored?
Instruments that cannot be reworked for technical or regulatory reasons are not simply sent back without comment: you receive a quote for a replacement at a special price.
Why do you need the decontamination certificate — and how should I pack?
Reprocessing before shipping is the sender's legal duty, and nobody in our workshop is allowed to handle an unprocessed instrument. Without the completed certificate in the parcel we cannot work on the shipment. The instruments themselves belong in the box cleaned and sterile-packed, and well padded: fine tips and sharp edges take more damage in transit than they ever do in the surgery. The form is available above as a PDF and in the download section.
How long does a repair take, and what does shipping cost?
We do not publish fixed turnaround times or shipping costs, because both depend on the size of the consignment — a single instrument is not the same job as three full trays. If you are working to a deadline or planning a larger shipment, please agree it with us beforehand: you will get a binding answer instead of a rough number.
I want to return an order — can I use this address?
No. That is a different process and, above all, a different address. Returns go postage-paid, with a copy of the invoice and the return form, to – Rücksendungen – rather than to the repair service. The second line on the parcel is what decides.
